Paintings by Elizabeth Bartlee: Elizabeth ” Eliza” Bartlee became a full time painter after retiring from 20 years of teaching art in public and private schools. She spent her last 20 years as a counselor and art therapist in Arizona and California.

Her interests have been varied and include working in sculpture, ceramics, wood, painting, and mixed media. The last ten years, she has been focused on painting in oils, watercolor, acrylic, and water medium. Subject matter consists primarily of nature, wildlife, and abstracts, using inks and water medium. She states, “Subject matter is not as important to me as the desire to create interesting effects and moods.”

The last four years, she has experimented with a new technique using poured water medium. “ I use a variety of techniques when pouring, thus creating spontaneous and vivid settings. I never completely know what I will get with shapes and color. The results of these pourings dictate what the subject matter of the picture will be. It is exciting to be working with a medium of limitless possibilities as the picture unfolds before my eyes.”

Elizabeth’s work is in galleries in Arizona and Minnesota. Her paintings are in private collections in California, Minnesota, and Arizona.  Her work can be viewed on FineArtsAZ.com.
