STEPS Art Education Program for Children

  • FREE art education classes taught by professional art educators, cultural educators and artists
  • Tuition and art supplies included
  • Class sizes limited to 12 students
  • Projects and activities focus on:
  1. learning and using the elements and principles of design
  2. using traditional and non traditional art making materials
  3. learning about cultures, art history and the environment (both natural and man-made).
  4. the integration of  STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, ART, and Math)
  5. vocabulary building
  6. motor, social and creative problem solving skill development

NOTE: Registration for each student is limited to ONE CLASS SESSION for each class series and  will be accepted on a first come first serve basis. Students who register after a class has filled will be placed on stand by and notified a.s.a.p. if and when a space becomes available prior to the first day of class. Please feel free to contact us with inquiries and or questions via email at 



Classes meet Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays for two consecutive weeks from 10:00 – 11:30 AM

for ages 8 – 10 with Cindy Gresser and Manuel Lucero of the Smoki Museum “NATIVE AMERICAN ART” The first day July 8th class will meet at the Smoki Museum 147 N Arizona Ave. Topics include Native Pottery, Corn Husk Dolls, Sacred Colors, Beading and the Medicine Wheel

for ages 11 – 14 with Jan Fischer “TWISTED ART” 3-D recycled tin masks, wooden dowel rod spinners, One Landscape Twisted 3 ways (linoleum print and large scale acrylic painting)


THE FALL 2019 CLASS SERIES (on line registration and details forthcoming)

Classes will meet Mondays , Tuesdays and Wednesdays for two consecutive weeks from 4:00 – 5:30 PM

SESSION ONE: August 19 – 28 :  with Melody McConaughy ages  5 – 7 and Jan Fischer ages 8 – 10

SESSION TWO: September 9 – 18 : with Jan Fischer ages 8 – 10 and M Jennifer Chandler ages 11- 14 

SESSION THREE: September 30 – October 9 : with Melody McConaughy ages 5 -7 and Paul Walter ages 8 – 10
