Viktor Lowenfeld’s book Creative and Mental Growth (1947) explained how art experience intertwines a child’s creative and mental growth. That art allows them to understand the world they live in and, most importantly, the ability to understand themselves.
Today, the truth of these words still stands, while the American education system continues to ignore the importance of art education in our children’s lives. For this reason, ‘Tis has been continually providing Prescott area children with free art education programs since 2011.
Our instructors come from varied backgrounds and expertise, allowing the program to grow and thrive.
NOTE: Registration for each student will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis. Students who register after a class has been filled will be placed on stand-by and notified as soon as possible if and when a space becomes available before the first day of class.
Classes meet on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday for two consecutive weeks, followed by a third Monday wrap-up class featuring final project exhibits with parents in attendance.

Hey Patti,
I just wanted to let you and the other art teachers at Tis Annex know that Indie has been deep diving back into art ever since the fall art class started again! And this isn’t just some version of another’s art but truly her own style and expression. What you all share with her including and not limited to your master skills, unique styles, confidence, beauty, and boundless creativity have made such a huge difference in Indie’s life and how she views the world. THANK YOU ALL SO MUCH!!!!
Aloha,
Ashley Rutherford
Dear Miss Patti, Miss Melody, and Miss Jan,
We are ecstatic that we got invited to art class again!!! We miss you…we miss making art………we miss making art with you. Virtual class was really great last time, and we learned a lot of cool new techniques. We can’t wait to see what the projects are. Thank you!
See you soon,
Mabel and Ruby!
