Taina Whitethorne Begay

Taina Whitethorne is the daughter of the late Baje Whitethorne Sr. and has been immersed in art her whole life. Under her father’s guidance, she began creating her artwork, painting small pictures and ornaments. Over time, she taught herself how to sew and has since become skilled in crafting traditional ribbon skirts and blouses from scratch, incorporating fabrics and lace into her designs.

In addition to her artistic pursuits, Taina serves as the Treasurer for the Buddy Whitethorne Foundation, which was established in honor of her late brother, Bahe “Buddy” Whitethorne Jr., who passed away in 2018.
Taina has showcased her ribbon skirts and blouses at various art shows and aspires to expand her clothing line to include more handmade pieces. In 2023, she received her first blue ribbon for her skirts at the Charlotte Hall Art Show in Prescott, and in 2024, she earned another blue ribbon at the Museum of Northern Arizona Heritage Festival.
