Summer Pyeatt-Lansa is a Hopi artist. She began her journey with pottery, taking Ceramic Classes at Yavapai College. Since then, she has enveloped pottery into her life almost as much as she envelops the rays of the sun in the morning. She uses the traditional coiling method to create pottery. While creating pots inspired by the ancient traditions of Hopi/Pueblo potters, Summer also draws on her own artistic style to develop her design concepts. She uses bold and detailed patterns with underglazes and the tactile use of raw high-fired clay to give her pieces texture and an unrefined look to call back to nature’s first form, ancient and rough.
